A new model in the ever-expanding Carrera range is automatic watch- the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 automatic. While the Carrera has its heritage as a Chronograph, there are now a range of 3-hand watches available, including this new model.

The watch uses a classic 39mm Carrera case and the standard Carrera “5-link” bracelet.

In addition to the outer-bezel that marks 5-minute increments, the Carrera Calibre 5 features an inner-bezel, or flange, that indicates the hours.

Dial

The unique feature of this watch is its dial, which has two parts- an inner-circle finished in a Clous de Paris finish, similar to that used on the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1.

The dial uses elongated hour markers, with a double-marker at the 12 o’clock position.

The other nice touch on the dial is the date window, which sits at the traditional 3 o’clock position, but exposes three dates, with today’s date indicated by the triangle marker.

Movement

As the name suggests, the new Carrera uses a Calibre 5 movement, which is what TAG Heuer call the ETA 2824-2. The ETA movement traces its origins back to the 1960s, with a range of refinements over the years. The movement is used in a range of TAG Heuers and is a very good reliable calibre

The Carrera has a sapphire caseback to show off the workings of the movement.

Models

There are two models available in the Carrera Calibre 5 watch- either the Black dial/ black bezel model shown above, or Brown dial/ Brown bezel.
