Famous for its single hand watches, MeisterSinger introduced the Salthora in 2014: in this model the single hand only indicates the minutes leaving the hour indication to a “jumping hour” round display at 12 o’clock. When 60 minutes have passed, the next number appears in the window in a flash and a soft tick lets you know the change even without having to look at the dial.
This year, on occasion of the ongoing Baselworld 2017 show, the German brand presents a completely new interpretation of the model, the Salthora Meta X.
The robustness of the watch is not only apparent. To take one example from the automotive world, just like a SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) is designed for use both on and off road, in a similar way the Salthora Meta X has been conceived to be a great wrist companion whether in town, in the countryside or in the water.
Its distinctive traits are the rugged crown protector on the side of the case, the rich Super-Luminova coated treatment for hand, digits and indices, and above all the rotatable bezel made of zirconia ceramic.
The Salthora Meta X is available in three different versions: reference SAMX902 with black dial, red hand and white digits, reference SAMX902GR with black dial, green digits and a green hand, and reference SAMX908 with its dial in deep blue with white digits and hand. All three models are supplied with a rubber-coated, waterproof leather strap. Several strap and bracelet variants are available.
Although the watch cannot be officially classified as a diving watch (it would require a seconds hand and line indices on its rotatable bezel), the Salthora Meta X is waterproof up to 20 bar / 200 meters / 660 feet thanks to its screwed crown and caseback firmly sealed with six screws.
Powered by a Swiss automatic ETA 2824-2 or Sellita 200-1 movement, the Salthora Meta X is equipped with a module for the “jumping hour” exclusively designed for MeisterSinger.
The tension required for the actuating lever of the hour disk is built up in the course of 60 minutes by a snail attached to the minute wheel. Hence, power is not withdrawn suddenly from the main- spring barrel, but continually, which only influences the workings to a minimal degree. The power reserve is 38 hours.
A great addition to MeisterSinger’s collection, the new Salthora Meta X has a suggested retail price of Euro 2,998 which is excellent for a high-quality watch with a proprietary jumping hour system, waterproofness to 20 bar, rotating bezel with zirconia ceramic insert and a truly distinctive look.
