Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro Rotor "Montre Ecole"

The new Galet Micro Rotor “Montre Ecole” from master watchmaker Laurent Ferrier is inspired to the first timepiece that he created in his watchmaking school years, a pocket watch characterised by lines and finish typical of the 19th century tradition.

The result is a new 40 mm three-piece bassiné case whose curved shape is emphasised by contrasting satin-brushed and polished surfaces. The appeal to tradition is evident in the straight, thin lugs as well as in the “pastille” end-piece decoration mirrored by the winding crown. read more

Laurent Ferrier is not a new-comer in the watchmaking industry; the brand celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. However, before launching its own watches, Laurent Ferrier became creative director at Patek Philippe in 1974. (If you want to read more about the brand and its history, we encourage you to check this article). What is easily recognizable about the watches from LF is the elegance of the case, what they call a Galet (pebble in English) due to the very round and smooth shape. What is also hardly debatable is the beauty of the movements, designed in-house and manufactured with very, very nice finishings. For Baselworld 2015, the brand comes with a brand new design, a new entry-level watch that, thankfully, keeps all the attributes of the previous creations. read more
